On July 31, according to reports, a young cybercriminal was sentenced to prison for stealing NFTs and Crypto Assets by exploiting a hijacked social media platform X (formerly Twitter) account.

Cameron Albert Redman, a 22-year-old Canadian citizen, was sentenced to one year in prison on Tuesday for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft.

In 2022, Redman and his accomplices exploited the hacked social media accounts of digital artists to post links directing to counterfeit websites of well-known creators and brands, scamming over 200 victims in just a few days, with a total amount defrauded reaching $794,000.
