From Airdrop Writer to DeFi Analyst: A Crypto Creator's Transformation Journey

In April 2023, a group of friends and I began to delve into the world of crypto assets social media. At that time, we mainly focused on writing Airdrop strategies. Each tweet would take 1-2 hours to complete, but typically received 100,000 views within 12 hours. Our daily lives turned into a simple cycle: wake up, write, post, eat, sleep, and then repeat. Looking back, our small group of content creators may have accounted for about 10% of the overall platform's follow, which was indeed a golden period.

Personally, I receive several collaboration invitations from project teams every month, hoping to promote their activities. However, at that stage, I value influence more than monetary returns. One morning, I was surprised to find that the content posted from my account with only 10,000 followers actually received 400,000 views. This sense of achievement far exceeds the number in my wallet at that time (although it was only four digits, it was already a considerable income for me).

This situation continued until September 2023, when the platform algorithm changed. Meanwhile, I temporarily left this social circle and didn't return until December. The reason for leaving was that there were some interesting things to deal with in real life, which only allowed me to post a maximum of three tweets per month.

Around August 2023, I realized that focusing on the Airdrop field was not a long-term sustainable strategy and did not align with my development direction. I began to consider transitioning to becoming a beginner in the decentralized finance (DeFi) field. Looking back now, those once-active Airdrop content creators, such as ardizor and CC2, seem to have disappeared from my information feed.

December 2023 marks a new chapter for me on this platform. I have adopted a new writing style, put in more effort, improved the illustrations, and expanded my network. However, surprisingly, my content views have actually declined.

You might find it incredible, but it's true. I started putting in much more energy than before, but the views on my tweets are only around 20,000. Occasionally, they can reach 100,000, but overall, the situation is still not as good as it used to be.

What is the current situation like?

Due to the popularity of certain narratives, many users have started posting low-quality content. The overall content quality has significantly declined, and the motivation for the vast majority of people to post has become "a certain protocol allocates a certain percentage of tokens to content creators, so I need to post more."

The more rewards are allocated to content creators, the worse the situation becomes.

I feel that the quality of my content has reached an all-time high, while the effort I put in continues to increase, but the views and the number of new followers have dropped to an all-time low.

My entire information feed is filled with content from some rankings, most of which lack substantial value.

In the face of this situation, how should we respond?

Perhaps during quiet market periods, we should strive to provide valuable content, work hard to improve quality, and maintain uniqueness. When discussing different protocols on various platforms, we should aim to provide in-depth and insightful analysis.

I want to say to all content creators: Good luck to you. This path is becoming increasingly difficult, and only the most resilient individuals can survive and thrive in this field. Whether on social media or in real life, staying focused and patient is crucial. Believe that one day, your efforts will be rewarded.
